Reid State Park

With a forecast of 86º and sunny, we planned a trip to Reid State Park in Georgetown, our first beach trip this year! We got up early to leave and got there around 10:00. Coincidentally, Amber and Nick had planned a trip to the beach that day, too, and also wanted to go to Reid. We met them there and sat on Todd's Point for the first time. Seth, Amber, and Nick played frisbee on the sand while Chelsea napped on the blanket. We soaked up the sun for 5 hours, then decided to head home.

We stopped by The Taste of Maine Restaurant in Woolwich to look at the osprey nest with babies that was featured in the news a few weeks ago. A mother osprey had made a nest ontop of one of the poles in their parking lot, which is surrounded by salt marsh. The osprey laid eggs in April and two chicks were born just a few weeks ago. The restaurant planted a camera over the nest to show restaurant guests a live video feed while they wait to be seated. We watched the mother and chicks, checked out their gift shop, and bought a little kitchen magnet :o) Seth and I had gone there last year on our way home from camping on Hermit Island late one night last summer. We loved the rustic downeast Maine feel that the restaurant offered. We promised ourself we would stop there for dinner when we go camping at Hermit Island again in a couple mouths.

It wasn't until we got home that we realized we are burnt to a crisp! But we don't even care... we had such a great day, it was so worth it!
